Abstract
This paper reports on the introduction of the LOTTO Swimsafe programme at Raglan Area School / Te Kura A Rohe 0 Whaingaroa. Data were obtained from 8 senior students, who trained as swimsafe instructors, and 13 teachers. A constructivist approach to analysing responses was developed and this provided insights into the worth of introducing the programme into the school. The programme was positively received by teachers, instructors and learners. It is possible that the structure of an area school aided the introduction of this programme. However, it is concluded that the multiple level learning experience created by the programme recommends itself to other schools.
